Kansas Wesleyan Sweeps KCAC Women's Volleyball Weekly Honors


WICHITA, Kan. — Rylee Serpan, Josie Deckinger, and Kelcey Hund, all of Kansas Wesleyan University, have earned this week's KCAC Women's Volleyball Attacker, Setter, and Defender of the Week honors, respectively, the conference office announced Monday. The three student-athletes were selected for their performances from Sept. 11-17 by a vote of conference sports information directors. All KCAC Player of the Week honors are presented by Equity Bank.
 
 

Attacker of the Week

Rylee Serpan - Kansas Wesleyan University

Serpan had one of the best weeks of her career for the Coyotes as KWU went 3-0 with a KCAC win over Sterling, and then wins over No. 12 ranked Bellevue and William Woods on a neutral court on Saturday. Serpan averaged 5.36 kills per set while hitting .354 in the three matches. She had a career-high 27 kills in the upset win over Bellevue while hitting a week-best .429. She had 10 digs in the match as well. Against Sterling, she had 13 kills in the sweep win over the Warriors, and then added 19 in the win over William Woods, a match in which she also had nine digs and five blocks.

Setter of the Week

Josie Deckinger - Kansas Wesleyan University

Deckinger had one of her best weeks of the season as the floor captain in KWU's 5-1 offense. She averaged 11.18 assists per set in the 3-0 week for the Coyotes, which included a win over No. 12 Bellevue, and victories over Sterling and William Woods. She averaged 12 assists per set in the win over Bellevue in a double-double performance that included 12 digs. She added an 11 assist per set performance in the win over William Woods, and started the week with a 10.3 per set performance in KWU's sweep over Sterling. She also added some setter kills in each match, averaging just over 1.0 kills per set.

Defender of the Week

Kelcey Hund - Kansas Wesleyan University

5-4 | Sr, | DS | Leavenworth, Kan.


Hund had a monster week for the Coyotes on defense, averaging 8.1 digs per set for the week as KWU went 3-0, which included a KCAC win over Sterling, and then a victory over No. 12 ranked Bellevue, and a win over William Woods. Her 40 digs (10 per set) against William Woods was a career-high at KWU, and the third-highest single-match total in school history. She added 33 in the win over Bellevue after starting the week with 16 in the sweep victory over Sterling.
