Women’s Tennis competes in KCAC Flighted Tournament

Box Score LINDSBORG – Kansas Wesleyan Women's Tennis continued the fall portion of its season at the 2023 KCAC Individual Flighted Tennis Tournament on Saturday.
 
The tournament was intended to begin Friday, but rain in the area pushed the start of the tournament back to Saturday, and the back (consolation) draw was eliminated from the tournament.
 
At No. 1 singles, Michaela Crowe opened with an 8-3 win over Halle Krehbiel of Bethel in the first round, then lost to Tominaga of Sterling in the quarterfinal round 8-4.
 
At No. 2 singles McKinnley Evans beat Bethel's Grace Dawes 8-6 in the first round, but lost to Zeynep Barut of McPherson 8-1 in the quarterfinals.
 
At No. 3 singles, Alivia Sherer lost to Lola Federski of Evangel 8-3 in the quarterfinals.
 
At No. 4 singles, Kristi Henderson beat Nalea Payton of Bethel 8-4 in the quarterfinal, but lost to Alejandra Parra of Ottawa 8-3 in the semifinal, then lost to Rachel Carlson of Sterling 8-1 in the third place match.
 
At No. 5 singles, Danielle Slack beat Patricia Huerta 9-8 in the quarterfinal, but then lost to Vanessa Hofer of McPherson 8-2 in the semifinal, then lost to Camila Castro Medina of Sterling 8-4 in the third place match.
 
At No. 6 singles, Eliza Camp started with an 8-1 win over Emma Evans of Bethel, but them lost to Alexandria Garcia of McPherson 8-1 in the semifinal, and lost to Lidia Bjelica 8-4 in the third place match.
 
At No. 1 doubles, Crowe and Henderson beat Finn and Wolfe from Saint Mary 6-3 in the first round, but lost to Isidora Hrnjak and Priyanshi Sharma of Ottawa 6-3 in the quarterfinal.
 
At No. 2 doubles, Huerta and Payton of Bethel beat Camrynn Bagwell and Sherer 6-3 in the quarterfinals.
 
At No. 3 doubles, Evans and Slack beat Charis Yager and Jenna Mahoney of Bethel 7-6 in the quarterfinal, but then lost to Mariam Alli-Balogun and Valeria Rodriguez of Ottawa 6-4 in the semifinal, then lost to Bjelica and Federski of Evangel 7-6 in the third place match.
 
The Coyotes will close out the fall portion of the schedule this weekend, hosting the ITA NAIA Central Regional in Salina starting on Friday.
