Kansas Wesleyan Women's Tennis played two matches on Saturday at Salina Tennis Alliance Center, dropping the first to the Concordia Bulldogs 7-0. The Coyotes would get a key Kansas Conference win in the second match, defeating Avila 6-1.
Against Concordia, the Coyotes would get one win in doubles at the No. 3 spot as
Eliza Camp and
Alivia Sherer beat Tessa Blough and Alexa Richert 6-3. Unfortunately, Concordia claimed the doubles point as Ishane Derman and Mariana Molano Canon beat
Kristi Henderson and
McKinnley Evans 6-2; and Chakira Derman and Alana Lopez Pagan beat
Hayden Bellamy and
Danielle Slack 7-5.
Concordia claimed all six singles matches. Molano Canon beat Bellamy 6-2, 6-1; Chakira Derman beat Sherer 6-3, 6-3; Ishane Derman beat Evans 7-5, 6-4; Lopez Pagan beat Slack 7-5, 6-1; Richert beat Camp 0-6, 6-1, 7-6; and Nina Milic beat
Kira McGrown 7-5, 7-5.
The Coyotes got an important KCAC win beating Avila 6-1.
In doubles the Coyotes won all three flights. Henderson and Evans beat Kylee Bragaw and Danielle Jean-Louis 6-4; Bellamy and Slack beat Tia Wilsher and Alaeyah Chleborad 6-1; and Camp and Sherer beat Ava Healy and Kylee Norris 6-0.
In singles, KWU won five of six matches. Bellamy beat Jean-Louis 6-4, 6-2; Evans beat Bragaw 6-4, 7-5; Slack beat Wilsher 7-5, 6-1; Camp beat Healy 6-1, 6-2; McGrown beat Chleborad 7-6, 6-0; and
Kaitlyn Wrye beat Norris 2-6, 6-1, 6-0.
KWU is back in action on Monday, heading to McPherson to face the Bulldogs at 3 p.m. at Holman Family Tennis Center.
