McPHERSON – Kansas Wesleyan saw its women's tennis team suffer its first KCAC loss of the season as the Coyotes fell to the McPherson Bulldogs 6-1 on Monday.
Wesleyan's lone point came at No. 6 singles as
Eliza Camp came through for the Coyotes beating Ava Bolin 1-6, 6-3 and 12-10 in a third set tiebreaker.
All three doubles matches went to McPherson giving the Bulldogs the point. Alexa Garcia and Vanessa Hofer beat
Kristi Henderson and
McKinnley Evans 6-1; Isabella Ellerbee and Taimi NAshiku beat
Hayden Bellamy and
Danielle Slack 6-3; and Laureen Van Drunen and Pia Hinricher beat Camp and
Alivia Sherer 6-1.
In the other singles matches, Garcia beat Bellamy 6-1, 6-1; Nashiku beat Sherer 6-1, 6-1; Van Drunen beat Evans 6-2, 6-2; Hinricher beat Henderson 6-0, 7-5; and Ellerbee beat Slack 6-2, 6-2.
The Coyotes will be back in action on Tuesday, heading to Crete, Nebraska to take on Doane. KWU returns home for the next three matches starting Saturday hosting Bethel.
