Kansas Wesleyan University Men's Volleyball hosted No. 8 ranked Grand View University in a Heart of America conference contest. The teams duked it out in a three set game where the Vikings claim all three sets over the Coyotes. 25-15, 25-17, 25-15.
The first set saw KWU taking a quick lead with three quick kills. One by
Jaron Lindsay, then two from
Matt Lucas; assisted by
Angel Diaz. Diaz would go on to record 12 assists on the night. Lindsay would rack up 8 kills and Lucas with 7 kills though out the game. Grand View would rally right back after the Coyotes early jump. GVU would go on their own run and take the lead at 4-3. The Vikings would then build some cushion scoring two to three points every time the Coyotes got one on the board. Set one ended 25-15 Vikings over Coyotes.
Set two saw better defense from KWU with a handful of duo blocks by Copper Stepp and
Colin Lindo. The Coyotes battled but still found themselves only getting a point or two in a row whereas the Vikings collected three to four at a time. Set two goes to GVU 25-17.
The third set saw the late run from the Coyotes after being down 15-6. KWU chipped away with a handful of kills by Matt Wagner. Bradly Neff collected 6 digs just behind
Justin Burras with 7 and
Angel Diaz with 8. Good defense and hustle plays to exited rallies gave the Coyotes a handful points off of Viking errors; but, the KWU only was able to get it within five point to lose set three 25-20.
Coyotes drop to 7-13 overall and 3-10 in conference play.
KWU will continue Heart of America play and stay home to face the Vikings of Missouri Valley College on Friday March 28. Set one will start at 7:00PM in Mabee Arena on the campus of Kansas Wesleyan University.
