WICHITA – Kansas Wesleyan Men's Tennis got a crucial 4-3 win over the Friends University Falcons on Saturday at Riverside Tennis Center.
The victory locks in the Coyotes into the KCAC playoffs which begin in two weeks.
Friends had an early lead in the match winning the doubles point taking two of the three matches. KWU got a win as
Raul Davalos-Gavino and
Gavin Chavez beat Auron Hoyer and Enric Garcia 6-2. Friends got wins as Cristobal Fuentez and Gabriel Gomez beat
Adam Hanson and
Luke Craft 6-3; and Augusto Silva Morais and Connor Fitzsimmons beat
Paul Jittawait and
Jacob Phelps 2-1.
In singles, it was the bottom four flights for the Coyotes that made the difference.
Jacob Phelps beat Hoyer 6-0, 3-6, 6-4; Craft beat Garcia 6-4, 4-6, 6-3;
Jack Hanson beat Silva Morais 6-1, 6-4; and Chavez beat Fitzsimmons 6-3, 6-2. Friends got wins as Fuentez beat Davalos-Gavino 6-3, 3-6, 6-1; and Gomez beat
Adam Hanson 6-4, 6-2.
The Coyotes are back in action on Monday taking on Sterling College in a Kansas Conference match-up at 3 p.m. at Salina Tennis Alliance Center.
