Kansas Wesleyan Men's Tennis fell to the University of Saint Mary Spires 4-3 on Sunday afternoon at Salina Tennis Alliance Center.
Things started out well for the Coyotes, who won all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. All three matches had the same score of 6-3.
Luke Craft and
Adam Hanson beat Nils Dueppe and Evan Maritz;
Jacob Phelps and
Paul Jittawait beat Carlos Grimaldi and Nudem Koyuncu; and
Austin Harden and
Raul Davalos-Gavino beat Jackson Contrucci and Leyton Ross.
In singles, Saint Mary would win four of the six flights to win the match. KWU got wins as Davalos-Gavino beat Grimaldi 6-3, 6-4; and
Jack Hanson beat Ross 6-2, 6-1. The Spires picked up wins as Dueppe beat
Adam Hanson 6-4, 6-2; Maritz beat Phelps 6-3, 6-2; Koyuncu beat Craft 6-1, 7-6; and Contrucci beat Jittawait 6-1, 3-6, 6-1.
The busy season continues for the Coyotes on Monday as KWU heads to Winfield to take on Southwestern College Moundbuilders in the first of three road matches this week. KWU heads to Tabor on Wednesday and Friends on Saturday.
