Women’s Tennis opens fall tournament season at Bethany and KCAC Flighted Tournament

Kansas Wesleyan Women's Tennis opened the fall tournament season earlier this month at the Bethany College Fall Invitational and most recently at the KCAC Individual Flighted Tournament, both held in Lindsborg.
 
In the Bethany Invitational, only singles matches were played due to adverse weather conditions.
 
In the A draw, Hayden Bellamy lost to Maria Purizaca of Doane 8-0, then lost to Dayna Steadman of Baker 8-2, then lost to Sofia Castillo Paz of Bethany 9-7.
 
In the B draw, Corina Salas lost to Kyla Metro of Bethany 8-2, then lost to Amy Holloway of Tabor 8-4. She then faced teammate Rylee Frye, losing 8-4. Frye played two other matches in the B draw losing to Ines Latorre 8-3 and Helen Harbit of Bethany 8-1.
 
In the C draw, Ania Bonner lost to Janae Montoya of Fort Hays State 8-1, then lost to Karee Adam of Bethany 8-5, then lost to Greta Fankhauser of Sterling 8-1. Alivia Sherer also played in the C draw losing to Makenna Russom of Bethany 8-4, then getting wins over Fankhauser 8-0 and Adam 8-5.
 
In the D draw, Hailey Adami lost the Elena Jundt of Bethany 8-2, then got wins over Sophie Scrimisher of Baker 8-5 and Grace Schroller of Doane 8-4.
 
In the E draw, Isabella Myers got wins over Elizabeth Roth of Doane 8-0, then lost to Cylie LaTourell of Sterling 8-2. Alexa Cook won over Emily Meyer of Bethany 8-4, then lost to LaTourell 8-3 and Roth 8-0.
 
In the F draw, Lauren Higgins lost to Kaelin Maier of Tabor 8-0, then lost to Emma Cain of Baker 8-3. Shaliyah Jenkins lost to Grace Turner of Bethany 8-3 and to Cain 8-0.
 
KWU then turned its sights to the KCAC Individual Flighted Tournament also held in Lindsborg this past weekend. Both singles and doubles flights were able to be played in the tournament.
 
In the No. 1 flight, Bellamy was the No. 9 seed and opened with a loss to Castillo Paz of Bethany 9-7. She then defeated Amy Holloway of Tabor 6-3.
 
In the No. 2 flight, Salas was the No. 8 seed and lost to Danielle Jean-Lewis of Avila 8-5, then defeated Adah Branam of Tabor 6-2.
 
In the No. 3 flight, Frye was the No. 8 seed and opened with a 8-4 win over LaTourell of Sterling, then defeated Mariam Alli-Balogun of Ottawa 8-3. She then lost to Oceane Frendjian of Oklahoma Wesleyan 8-3, then lost to Isabella Ellerbee of McPherson 8-1.
 
In the No. 4 flight, Isabella Myers was the No. 9 seed and lost to Lauren Hendrickson of Evangel 8-1, then lost to Monserrat Guerrero of Saint Mary 6-3.
 
In the No. 5 flight, Ania Bonner was the No. 5 seed. She first lost to Arsys Rojas of Saint Mary 8-6, then came back to defeat Alaeyah Chleborad of Avila 6-3.
 
In the No. 6 flight, Lauren Higgins was the No. 5 seed and lost to Elena Jundt of Bethany 8-2, then defeated Selyn Duke of Tabor 6-0.
 
In doubles play, in the No. 1 flight, Bellamy and Salas were the No. 7 seed. They opened with a win over Kyla Metro and Karee Adam of Bethany 8-6, then lost against Taimi Nashiku and Vanessa Hofer of McPherson 8-1.
 
In the No. 2 doubles flight, Sherer and Frye were the No. 6 seed and opened with a loss to Patty Huerta and Ximena Raya Arredondo 8-1. They then beat Jacilyn Seachris and Kaelin Maier of Tabor 6-0.
 
In the No. 3 doubles flight, Adami and Cook were the No. 8 seed and opened with a win over Rojas and Kline of Saint Mary 8-6, then lost to Nancy Henderson and Ashley Miller of Oklahoma Wesleyan 8-0, then lost to Elena Jundt and Lily Heline of Bethany 8-5.
 
Next up for the Coyotes will be KWU hosting the ITA West Central Regional Tournament on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Salina Tennis Alliance.
