Kansas Wesleyan Men's Tennis picked up its second straight win of the season as the Coyotes beat Doane 5-2 on Monday at Salina Tennis Alliance Center in the home opener for the Coyotes.
KWU won the doubles point winning two of the three matches.
Alex Sherer and
Paul Jittawait beat Mats Vervolet and Jaime Asiain Banzo 6-0; and
Jacob Phelps and
Dawson O'Donnell beat Diego Infante and Elliott Dassel 6-3.
Doane got a win in doubles as Andre Hartman and Miles Mollring beat
Adam Hanson and
Gavin Chavez 6-2.
KWU won four of the six singles matches to claim the match.
Sherer beat Vervolet 6-2, 6-1; Phelps beat Asiain Banzo 6-4, 6-1; Jittawait beat Mollring 6-0, 5-7, 10-4 and in a thriller O'Donnell beat Dassel 6-7, 7-6, 10-2. Both of the first two sets of O'Donnell's match went to tiebreaks with Dassel winning the first 7-2 and O'Donnell winning the second 7-4.
Doane got its two points of the match as Infante beat
Adam Hanson 4-6, 6-3, 10-7; and Hartman beat
Jack Hanson 4-6, 7-6, 12-10.
KWU plays a NAIA non-countable match against Pratt CC on Wednesday, then takes on Hastings on Sunday at Genesis Salina.
