Kansas Wesleyan Men's Tennis opened its season over the weekend at the Bethany Fall Invitational.
In singles action, in the A Draw
Paul Jittawait lost to Fran Bravo of Bethany 8-3.
In the B Draw, Gustavo Cardoso of Bethany beat
Ayden Johnson 8-5, but Johnson bounced back to beat Phil Fleischer of Sterling 6-4.
In the C Draw, Lucas Gomez-Giraldo lost to Diego Bsereni of Bethany 8-4.
In the D Draw De Pierpont of Doane beat
Porter Anderson 8-1 and Joao Franci of Tabor beat Anderson 6-4. Santi Stipanov of Bethany beat Ben Cechak 8-2 and Franci beat Cechak 7-5.
In the E Draw,
Adam Everett lost to Dassel of Doane 8-5, then faced teammate
Felix Rodriguez with Everett winning 6-2. Rodriguez also dropped a match to Micah Goertzen of Tabor 8-2.
In the G Draw,
Levi Mies opened with a walkover win, then lost to Collin Branam of Tabor 8-2.
In the H Draw,
Noah Guldner got two walkover wins to advance to the final, losing to Mason Davis 8-3.
In the I Draw,
Dax Henderson lost to Fynn Ebenig of Sterling 8-0, but came back to win 6-0 over Wyatt Hendrix and then defeat teammate
Caleb Papineau 7-5 in the consolation final. Avila from Doane also defeated Papineau 8-1.
In doubles action in the A Draw Jittawait and Johnson lost to Bravo and Priban of Bethany 8-6, then lost to Ferger and Nunez of Baker 6-3.
In the B Draw Cechak and Rodriguez lost to Bsereni and San Stipanov of Bethany 8-6, then lost to Spies and Temesvari of McPherson 6-4.
In the C Draw Anderson and Gomez-Giraldo lost to Paiva and Barba of Sterling 8-4. The duo then dropped down to the E Draw for an extra match beating Serrano and Danel of Saint Mary 6-3.
In the D Draw, Everett and Mies defeated Torres and Davis of Tabor 8-4, then beat Garcia and Ebenig of Sterling 8-4. In the final, they would lose to De Pierpont and Stagner of Doane 8-6.
In the E Draw, Papineau and Henderson lost to Serrano and Daniel of Saint Mary 8-3. Guldner and
Dylan Dodds then beat Ramirez Gomez of Tabor and Avila of Doane 8-7 in a tiebreaker and then lost to Adams and Morales of Doane 8-3 in the final.
Up next for the Coyotes will be the KCAC Individual Flighted Championships on September 18 and 19 in Lindsborg.
