OSKALOOSA, Iowa – Kansas Wesleyan Men's Volleyball faced its second nationally ranked opponent in as many days as the Coyotes went up against No. 6 ranked William Penn on Sunday at the Penn Activity Center.
The Statesmen would pick up a straight set win over the Coyotes 25-17, 25-17, 25-9.
The first set was tied 9-9 after KWU got a block by
Dallas Manaku and
Kaleb Cui, but William Penn then scored the next nine points to take an 18-9 lead. KWU got back within five at 20-15, but could get no closer the rest of the set.
Wesleyan was close in the second set, trailing 17-13 when William Penn went on a four point run to take a 21-13 lead. WPU would win the set 25-17.
It was 9-7 William Penn in the third when things got away from the Coyotes. The Statesmen closed the match on a 16-2 run.
Conor Williams had eight kills to lead the Coyotes.
Dallas Manaku had 16 assists and six digs.
Josh Kiely had seven digs.
The Coyotes are back in action Tuesday, facing a third straight nationally ranked opponent in No. 3 ranked Park in Parkville, Mo. KWU returns home to face nationally-ranked Missouri Valley on Friday, and Culver-Stockton on Saturday.
