Men’s Volleyball drops match to No. 5 Missouri Valley

Kansas Wesleyan Men's Volleyball faced the No. 5 ranked Missouri Valley Vikings on Friday night inside Mabee Arena. MoValley came away with the straight set win 25-17, 25-21, 25-8 over the Coyotes.
 
In the opening set, the Coyotes led 6-5 after a kill by Conor Williams, but the Vikings would take an 8-6 lead and extend it out to 15-9. Wesleyan got back within three on a kill by Dallas Manaku and were within four at 21-17 when Valley scored the last four points of the set to get the win.
 
Missouri Valley led 5-4 in the second set but the Coyotes rattled off five points capped by Kaleb Cui's solo block to take a 9-5 lead in the set. The Vikings would come back to tie it at 13, but a Cui kill kept the lead in favor of the Coyotes. MVC tied it and then took an 18-15 lead in the set. MVC led 21-16 when the Coyotes scored the next three, including back-to-back service aces by Williams to get within two at 21-19. Missouri Valley would close out the set winning 25-21.
 
The third set was tied 2-2 when MoValley would go on a 9-2 run to take an 11-4 lead. After a KWU point, the Vikings scored the next eight to lead 19-5 and would close out the match with a 25-8 win.
 
Williams led the Coyotes with nine kills, Cui had five. Dallas Manaku had 18 assists and five digs. Josh Kiely had seven digs.
 
The Coyotes are back in action on Saturday, hosting Culver-Stockton at 1 p.m. inside Mabee Arena.
