ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Kansas Wesleyan Men's Volleyball dropped a straight set decision to the Missouri Baptist Spartans 25-20, 25-19, 25-9 on Friday night at the Petty Center.
The first set was tied 10-10 when the Spartans used a 6-1 run to push out to a 16-11 lead. The Coyotes got within three at 18-15 on
Anthony Mule's service ace, but the difference proved to be too much. KWU fought off four set points by the Spartans before dropping the set.
MBU used several little runs in the second set to open up a 21-11 lead. The Coyotes battled back down the stretch thanks to a 7-2 run to get within five on
Kaleb Cui's kill before MBU was able to close out the set.
KWU struggled in the fhird. The Coyotes fell behind 11-4 and later the Spartans ran off eight straight points to take a 23-7 lead. The Coyotes got two back before MBU closed out the match.
Cui had six kills and
Conor Williams had five.
Dallas Manaku had 14 assists. Cui had six digs.
Wesleyan is back in action on Saturday taking on University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy at 11 a.m. in Saint Louis.
