Kansas Wesleyan Men's Volleyball dropped a three-set match to the seventh-ranked Mount Mercy Mustangs on Saturday at Mabee Arena 25-15, 25-24, 25-10.
The Coyotes were within two points at 10-8 in the first set, but a 5-1 MMU run pushed the lead out to 15-9. After a KWU point on a kill by
Anthony Mule, Mount Mercy scored four more to lead 19-10 before dropping the set 25-15.
Mount Mercy raced out to a 14-4 lead in the second set as the Coyotes struggled to string together points. KWU did fight off four set points before Mount Mercy closed out the set.
The Coyotes trailed 5-1 to start the third set but came back to tie it at 5-5 on back-to-back aces by
Conor Williams. MMU led 10-8 when the Mustangs went on a 15-2 run to finish the set and the match.
Kaleb Cui had eight kills to lead the Coyotes.
Dallas Manaku had 17 assists and
Josh Kiely had seven digs.
The Coyotes head on the road for two matches next week at Missouri Valley and Culver-Stockton before closing the regular season with four straight home matches.
