Men’s Volleyball starts final road trip of season falling to No. 6 Missouri Valley

MARSHALL, Mo. – Kansas Wesleyan Men's Volleyball started its final road trip of the regular season on Friday evening against the No. 6 ranked Missouri Valley College Vikings.

MVC would pick up the straight set win 25-9, 25-16, 25-11 over the Coyotes.

MVC raced out to a 6-1 lead to open the first set and led 19-6 after another 5-0 run. The Vikings would take the opening set 25-9.

KWU led 5-1 to start the second set after a pair of MVC errors. The Coyotes led 8-5 after a kill by Anthony Mule, but MVC would take a 9-8 lead with four straight points. The teams traded points back and forth with the set tied 14-14 before MVC used a 5-0 run to take a 19-14 lead.

The Vikings pushed the lead to 23-15 before a kill by Dallas Manaku for the Coyotes stopped the run before MVC closed the set with two points.

In the third set MVC again jetted out to a 6-1 lead to start things off. The lead extended to 13-5 before the Coyotes got two points on a Kaleb Cui kill and a Manaku service ace. It was 18-10 MVC when the Vikings rolled off six straight points before closing out the set and the match.

Mule paced the Coyotes with five kills. Manaku had 14 assists. Josh Kiely had seven digs.

KWU plays at Culver-Stockton on Saturday at 1 p.m. before returning home to finish out the season with four straight home matches starting on Tuesday against Central Christian.
