KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas Wesleyan's Davin Hinote was named the NAIA Baseball Pitcher of the Week following his no-hitter against York (Neb.) on Tuesday in a mid-week conference contest, where the Coyotes came out on top, 12-0.
Hinote issued one walk and registered five strikeouts in the matchup while throwing 78 pitches during the run-rule shortened seven-inning game.
This marks the first no-hitter for a KWU pitcher since February of 2014, which came from David Herrera in a 2-1 win over Morningside (Iowa) in a four-game series that was played at two different sites, none of which were in Salina or Sioux City, Iowa.
The Coyotes are 27-6 overall and 21-4 in the KCAC heading into action this week, with their next contest on April 1 against Concordia (Neb.) at 12 p.m.
