Kansas Wesleyan Women's Tennis continued the strong start to the conference portion of the season as the Coyotes posted two wins in their last two matches.
The Coyotes defeated Evangel 5-2 on Saturday in Springfield, Mo., and defeated Tabor 7-0 on Monday in Hillsboro.
Against Evangel, the Coyotes swept all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point.
Hayden Bellamy and
Rylee Frye beat Rachel Chaney and Maria Morgado 6-1;
Corina Salas and
Alivia Sherer beat Erecka Penner and Lidia Bjelica 6-2; and
Hailey Adami and
Ania Bonner beat Lauren Hendrickson and McKyle Cox 6-4.
In singles, the Coyotes won four of the six matches.
Frye beat Bjelica 2-6, 6-3, 6-3; Sherer beat Hendrickson 7-5, 6-2; Adami beat Cox 4-6, 7-6, 6-3; and
Isabella Myers beat Olivia Glisson 1-6, 6-4, 6-2. Evangel got wins as Chaney beat Bellamy 6-3, 6-4; and Morgado beat Salas 6-3, 6-4.
It was a clean sweep for the Coyotes on Monday against Tabor.
KWU won the two contested doubles matches as Frye and Bellamy beat Amy Holloway and Adah Branham 6-0; and Salas and Sherer beat Ashley Jimenez and Jacilyn Seachris 6-2.
In singles it was all Coyotes in the five contested matches. Bellamy beat Holloway 6-3, 6-0; Salas beat Seachris 6-2, 6-4; Frye beat Branham 6-0, 6-2; Sherer beat Jimenez 6-1, 6-0; and Adami beat Selyn Duke 6-0, 6-1.
KWU is 7-5 overall and 5-1 in the KCAC after the two wins. KWU takes on Sterling on Wednesday, then heads to Oklahoma Wesleyan on Saturday and Bethel next Tuesday.
