GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Wyatt Johnson finished fifth in the 1000m at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships highlighting Wesleyan's finishes at the event held at the Alachua County Events Center.
In Friday's preliminary round, Johnson won his heat with a time of 2:25.77, which was the third fastest time of the qualifying round.
In the final on Saturday, Johnson posted a time of 2:26.30 to finish fifth and earn NAIA All-America status in the event.
Montreat's Nathan Cremin was the national champion in the event setting a new NAIA Championship record with a time of 2:22.26.
KWU also had two relays and two other individuals compete at the event.
The men's 4x800m relay team of
Braulio Torres,
Jude Nelson,
Nicolas Martinez and
Triston Cottone finished 19
th in the preliminary round with a time of 7:53.97.
The women's 4x800m relay team of
Delaney Bond,
Shelby Lingle,
Lauryn Mikkelson and
Hailey Nordhus finished 14
th with a time of 9:18.14.
Bond finished 25
th in the 600m preliminaries with a time of 1:38.81.
Nordhus finished 20
th with a time of 3:04.57 in the 1000m preliminaries.
