NEWTON, Kan. – Kansas Wesleyan Men's Tennis dropped its KCAC opener on Saturday as the Coyotes fell to Avila 4-3 at a neutral site.
The Coyotes were able to capture the doubles point winning two of the three matches.
Adam Hanson and
Jacob Phelps beat Hayden Carrillo and Tristan Houchin 6-1; and
Jack Hanson and
Benjamin Cechak beat Ben Drinkwater and Brendan Honn 6-4.
Avila got one win as Axel Scott and Daniel Lozano beat
Alex Sherer and
Gavin Chavez 7-6.
Avila would win four of the six singles matches to claim the overall match win.
KWU got two wins as Sherer beat Scott 6-2, 6-3; and
Porter Anderson got a forfeit win.
In the other matches won by Avila, Lozano beat Phelps 7-5, 1-6, 7-5; Houchin beat
Adam Hanson 4-6, 7-5, 6-2; Carrillo beat
Jack Hanson 6-2, 0-6, 6-4; and Honn beat
Adam Everett 6-7, 7-5, 6-2.
The Coyotes have a quick turnaround, taking on Concordia (Neb.) at 1 p.m. at Salina Tennis Alliance.
