Kansas Wesleyan Men's Tennis split its two Saturday matches with the Southwestern College Moundbuilders and the Baker University Wildcats at Salina Tennis Alliance.
KWU would beat Southwestern 6-1 and lose to Baker 4-3.
Against Southwestern, the Coyotes won the two contested doubles matches to win the doubles point. Adam and
Jack Hanson beat Drake Low and Jackson Davis 6-4; and
Jacob Phelps and
Gavin Chavez beat Connor Stampley and Victor Arias 6-2.
KWU won four of the five contested singles matches and got a forfeit win.
Adam Hanson beat Arias 6-2, 6-2; Chavez beat Lowe 6-0, 7-6;
Felix Rodriguez beat Stampley 7-6, 6-3; and
Andrew Wise beat Tyron Spears 6-0, 6-0.
Southwestern got one win as Davis beat
Jack Hanson 6-4, 4-6, 10-8.
KWU then faced Baker University in a non-conference match.
The Coyotes started out strong winning all three doubles matches and the doubles point, but Baker won four of the six singles matches to get the overall match win.
Adam Hanson and
Paul Jittawait beat Jhon Ramirez and Corvin Christ 6-2; Phelps and
Dawson O'Donnell beat Immo Ferger and River Flaska 6-3; and Chavez and
Benjamin Cechak beat Arturo Nunez and Carlos Alacala 7-5.
In singles Jittawait beat Ferger 6-4, 6-2; and
Jack Hanson beat Christ 6-3, 6-4.
Baker got wins as Ramirez beat O'Donnel 6-3, 6-2; Flaska beat
Adam Hanson on a retirement; Nunez beat Chavez 6-2, 6-1; and Alcala beat Cechak 6-1, 6-1.
The Coyotes host Friends on Tuesday.
