HUTCHINSON – Kansas Wesleyan Men's Cross Country opened its season with a second place finish in the Terry Masterson Twilight Classic hosted by Hutchinson CC on Thursday evening at Fun Valley.
 
The Coyotes finished with 60 points in the meet behind host and meet champion Hutchinson CC with 17 points.
 
Ethan Ochana paced the Coyote finishers in seventh with a time of 21:49.24 over the 4-mile course. Barka Bapeng, Jr. was ninth with a time of 22:01.13, Cohen Greve was 13^th with a time of 22:30.03, Triston Cottone was 18^th with a time of 23:07.45, Jude Nelson was 19^th with a time of 23:11.49, Mauricio Mendez was 25^th with a time of 23:36.02, Logan Topp was 28^th with a time of 23:50.91, Kaden Bishop was 31^st with a time of 24:02.98, Braulio Torres was 33^rd with a time of 24:25.17, Will Childers was 38^th with a time of 24:40.04, Efrain Santibanez was 44^th with a time of 25:08.10, and Roman Mai was 47^th with a time of 25:59.47.
 
Dodge City was third behind the Coyotes, followed by Garden City CC, Tabor, Coffeyville CC and Pratt CC to round out the team scorers. Bethany, Hesston and Central Christian also had athletes in the meet but did not score as a team.
 
Next up for the Coyotes is the Queen City Twilight hosted by Missouri State University on September 11 in Springfield, Missouri.
