OKLAHOMA CITY – Kansas Wesleyan Men's Golf opened its season on Monday and Tuesday at the Southwestern Christian Invitational at Lincoln Park Golf Course.
The Coyotes posted a fourth place finish out of the 10 teams at the tournament.
KWU finished with a team score of 883 for the tournament and were just seven shots out of a second-place finish. The Coyotes had back-to-back rounds of 297 to start the tournament and finished with a 289.
Joey Wisocki led the Coyotes with a third place finish with a 1-over par score of 214 for the tournament. He was just two shots behind first place in the tournament.
Cooper Bunce finished 12
th with a score of 221,
Kaden Mellott tied for 17
th with a score of 224,
Alex Gallegos was part of a group tied for 31
st along with teammate
Layne Smotzer with a score of 229.
Hesston College was the tournament team champion with a score of 865. Southwestern Christian was second with an 876, followed by Central Baptist at 881, KWU and Seminole State rounded out the Top 5 with an 895.
Kory Meireis was the individual champion with a score of 212.
KWU returns to action on September 14 and 15 in the Crestview Fall Classic hosted by Friends University at Crestview Country Club in Wichita.
