James Bauer joins the Coyotes as the Offensive Coordinator and Associate Head Coach for the 2022 Season.

Coach Bauer comes from Southwestern College where he served as the Offensive Coordinator. In the 2021 campaign, he helped lead the Moundbuilders to their first KCAC championship and NAIA Football Championship Series appearance since 1999. The Builders Finished the season ranked No. 8 in the country. Bauer was also awarded the KCAC Assistant Coach of the Year honors.

Bauer became the Offensive Coordinator for Southwestern in 2019. Coach Bauer’s 2020 and 2021 seasons at Southwestern College were the most successful season they had seen in two decades, averaging 38 points per game with a 16-4 Record. 

Bauer joined Southwestern in 2017 as Special Teams Coordinator. Coaching two different KCAC Special Team Players of the year.

Prior to Southwestern in 2016, Bauer served on staff at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana, where he was the Wide Receivers Coach and the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator.

Bauer began his coaching career at William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa, where he was the Running Backs coach from 2014-2015.

A native of Terre Haute, Ind., Bauer received his Bachelors of Science degree in Physical Education from Friends University in 2013 and his Masters Business of Leadership in Business Leadership from William Penn University in 2015. He is married to Makenzie, an elementary teacher in the Salina School District, and has one child Rory.
