Box Score WINFIELD – Kansas Wesleyan Flag Football stayed unbeaten on the season as the Coyotes blanked Southwestern 19-0 on Wednesday night at Richard Jantz Stadium.
Reigning KCAC Offensive Player of the Week
Chihiro Iwata threw three touchdown passes for the Coyotes leading KWU to the victory.
KWU's first score came with 5:11 left in the second quarter as Iwata found
Jazmine Whitfield for an 8-yard scoring play and the PAT pass to
Ja'Daa Wilson was also good putting KWU up 7-0.
The Coyotes tacked on another six points with five seconds left before the half as Iwata found Wilson in the end zone from seven yards out, but the PAT failed and the Coyotes would take a 13-0 lead into the locker room.
Wesleyan didn't score again until the fourth, when Iwata found
Ciaran DeCuir for a 7-yard scoring play, but the PAT failed and it was 19-0.
Iwata was 22 of 44 passing for 181 yards and three scores. She also ran twice for 17 yards. Whitfield had seven catches for 54 yards,
Angel Roman had six grabs for 47,
Jayla Howes had three for 38, Wilson had three for 18,
Alexis Jimenez had two for 17 and DeCuir, the one for the score.
Wesleyan's defense held Southwestern to 102 yards of total offense and just four first downs in the game.
KWU is back in action again on Sunday, hosting Saint Mary at 1 p.m. and Pratt Community College at 3 p.m.
