Men’s Tennis falls to (RV) Bethel 5-2

NORTH NEWTON – After twice being postponed, the Kansas Wesleyan Men's Tennis team finally met up with the Bethel College Threshers on Friday, but Bethel came away with the 5-2 win over the Coyotes.
 
The Coyotes got one win in doubles as Bryce Ware and Alex Sherer knocked off NAIA No. 33 ranked Michael Cech and Milan Bucek 6-1. The other two doubles matches went to Bethel as Tomas Quercia and Petur Kollar beat Raul Davalos-Gavino 6-2; and Rodrigo Sanchez and Johan Bergeron 6-1.
 
Wesleyan got its two points by winning two singles matches. Ware, ranked No. 12 in the NAIA, beat NAIA No. 56 ranked Bucek 6-3, 6-2. And Jacob Phelps beat Jonah Berger 6-1, 6-1.
 
In the other match-ups Cech beat Sherer 2-6, 6-3. 6-2; Quercia beat Davalos-Gavino 6-1. 6-3; Kollar beat Adam Hanson 6-3. 6-1; and Sanchez beat Luke Craft 6-2, 6-4.
 
The Coyotes wrap up the regular season on Saturday, hosting Ottawa University at 2 p.m. at Salina Central High School..
