Men’s Indoor Track opens 2025 portion of schedule at Coach Alsup Invitational

MARYVILLE, Mo. – Kansas Wesleyan Men's Indoor Track and Field had its first meet of the 2025 portion of the schedule as the Coyotes were inside Hughes Fieldhouse for the Coach Alsup Invitational on Saturday.
 
Julian Avila finished fourth in the mile to lead the KWU finishers with a time of 4:14.58, while Ian Doss was 23rd in 4:37.30, Cisco Alvarez was 29th in 4:40.85, and Tytus Reed was 33rd in 4:43.84.
 
In the 200m, Zamari Burrell led a large group of KWU finishers with a fifth place finish in 22.67 seconds. Cayden Purcell was 23rd in 23.35, Kean Dinkel was 28th in 23.52, Tyler Fontenot was 31st in 23.61, Brennon Allen was 48th in 24.47, James Preston was 52nd in 24.59, Darius Archuleta was 53rd in 24.59, Kamal Murphy was 54th in 24.64, and Tristan Howard was 72nd in 26.92.
 
In the shot put, Keegan Lott was fifth with a mark of 15.18m, Keyon Baccus was 26th with a mark of 11.89m, Riley Garcia was 37th with a mark of 10.85m and Austin Baird was 40th with a mark of 10.55m.
 
KWU had four 4x400m relay teams led by the group of Trevor Peal, Ty Davidson, Wyatt Johnson and Trison Cottone finishing sixth in 3:27.76. The group of Andrew Smith, Julian Avila, Nate Chavez and Nicolas Martinez was 11th in 3:31.16. The group of Cayden Purcell, Sidney Washington, Evan Pearce and Kean Dinkel was 15th in 3:38.77. The group of DeJaylon Beal, Darius Archuleta, Zamari Burrell and Tyler Fontenot was 22nd in 3:44.06.
 
Damion Jackson finished seventh in the 3000m with a time of 8:44.74. Austin Schaeffer was 10th in 8:54.77, Giovanni Rios was 12th in 9:01.01, Cisco Alvarez was 19th in 9:28.20, and Jack Horacek was 29th in 9:56.92.
 
In the 1000m, Nicolas Martinez was ninth in 2:36.52 and Triston Cottone was 11th in 2:37.92.
 
In the 800m, Ty Davidson was 10th in 1:57.23, Evan Pearce was 18th in 2:00.70, Nate Chavez was 21st in 2:01.44, Wyatt Johnson was 25th in 2:02.78 and Will Childers was 46th in 2:14.68.
 
In the triple jump, Kamal Murphy was 11th with a mark of 12.13m.
 
In the 60m preliminaries, Zamari Burrell placed 14th with a time of 7.15 seconds, Kean Dinkel was 21st in 7.20, Tyler Fontenot was 43rd in 7.37, and Riley Garcia was 44th in 7.39.
 
In the long jump, Darius Archuleta was 16th with a mark of 5.86m and Riley Garcia was 32nd with a mark of 5.24m.
 
In the 5000m, Landon Steeger was 18th in 16:36.50 and Brodie Bradshaw was 24th in 17:01.22.
 
In the 400m, Andrew Smith finished 20th with a time of 52.88 seconds, Trevor Peal was 23rd in 53.28, DeJaylon Beal was 29th in 54.53 and Sidney Washington was 37th in 56.35.
 
In the 60m hurdles preliminaries Tristan Howard was 22nd in 9.59 seconds and Cayden Purcell was 23rd in 9.60.
 
In the weight throw, Austin Baird was 23rd with a mark of 11.89m.
 
The Coyotes are back in action next weekend at the Concordia Classic in Seward, Nebraska.
