Kansas Wesleyan Men's Tennis played host to the 2025 ITA NAIA West Central Regional and the KWU Doubles Invitational at Salina Tennis Alliance Center, Salina Central High School and Salina South High School.
In the ITA Regional,
Jack Hanson lost to Jorge Batista of Bethel 6-3, 6-1; then lost to Carlos Grimaldi of Saint Mary 8-1.
Paul Jittawait matched up with Rayane Sanhaji of Tabor and won the first set 6-3, but lost the second 6-3 sending the match to a super tiebreak where Sanhaji came away with a 14-12 win.
Adam Hanson lost to Sterling's Pedro Felipoff 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles,
Adam Hanson and
Jacob Phelps lost to Santiago Minetti and Gabirel Whiston of Morningside 8-5, then came back to beat Rayane Sanhaji and Joao Se of Tabor 6-2. They then lost to Evan Maritz and Nils Dueppe of Saint Mary 7-6 (7-4 tiebreak).
In the KWU Invitational, KWU had a team entered in five different pools.
In Pool 1,
Felix Rodriguez and
Benjamin Cechak played Morningside's Derek Buikema and Abhisek Mahapatra first losing 7-5. They then came back and beat Valentin Corriger and Yuki Usuda of Ottawa 6-4. They then lost to Ahmed Alkassas and Malte Jon Sommer of Texas Wesleyan 7-6 (8-6 tiebreak), then lost to Davian Spies and Balazs Temesvari of McPherson 7-5 and Arturo Nunez and River Flaska of Baker 6-1.
In Pool 2,
Gavin Chavez and
Adam Everett played, first losing to Juan Manuel Avila and Carlos Alcala of Baker 7-6 (7-2 tiebreak); then lost to Joao Pedro Costa and Thomas Purrier of Morningside 6-4; and Joao Franchi and Isaac Yourdon of Tabor 6-3. The duo came back to win their last two matches, beating Ayden Johnson and Von Woleslagle 6-4; and finished with a defeat of Rodrigo Torres and Jacob Bush of Friends 7-5.
In Pool 3, after a 6-3 loss to Hayden Carillo and Brendan Honn of Avila, KWU's
Drake Karr and
Porter Anderson came back to win their next three matches. They beat Trey Lacy and Gabriel Gonzalez of Friends 6-3; Alejandro Rico Moran and Alessandro Maccioni of Bethany 6-4; and Amos Harder and Brock Corley of Bethel 7-5.
Zachary Daley and
Dylan Dodds played in Pool 4 for the Coyotes. They first lost to Titus Wassom and JT Alton of Bethel 6-3; then lost to Landon Moots and Ben Drinkwater of Avila 6-2. They then lost to Pedro Melo and Keaton Leiker of Bethany 7-6 (7-3 tiebreak). They then played an exhibition match against Seth Ogen of Friends and Caleb Parker of Bethel losing 6-3.
In Pool 5,
Levi Mies and
Andrew Wise went undefeated in four matches. The first beat Collin Branam and Tony Gomez Ramirez of Tabor 6-1. They then beat Jayden Henderson and Drue Cowen of Avila 6-3, then beat Kien Foster and Porter Lee of Baker 7-6 (7-3 tiebreak) and finished with a win over Anthony Davies and Gannon Mosher of Bethany 6-4.
KWU will wrap up the fall season of competition on October 11 in the KCAC Invitational hosted by Bethel College in North Newton.
