Kansas Wesleyan Men's Tennis started its fall tournament schedule with the Bethany College Invitational and the KCAC Individual Flighted Tournament, both held in Lindsborg.
In the Bethany Invitational, only singles draws were able to be contested due to inclement weather during the tournament.
In the A draw,
Adam Hanson defeated Jaime Asiain Banzo of Doane 9-8 (8-6), then lost to Francisco Bravo of Bethany 8-1 and Pedro Felipoff of Sterling 8-3.
In the B draw,
Paul Jittawait lost to Arturo Nunez of Baker 8-0 and Andre Hartman of Doane 8-6.
In the C draw,
Jack Hanson beat Tanner Adams of Doane 8-4, then lost to Kazuki Fukushima of Sterling 8-6 and Joao Sa of Tabor 8-6.
Gavin Chavez lost to Diego Bsereni of Bethany 8-1, then picked up a walkover win over River Flaska of Baker, then defeated Dylan Gwilt of Bethany 8-5.
In the D draw,
Benjamin Cechak lost to Elliot Dassel of Doane 8-6, then lost to Pedro Melo of Bethany 9-8 (7-4).
Andrew Wise lost to Carlos Rodriguez Rivas 8-1, then lost to Isaac Yourdon of Tabor 9-8 (7-2).
In the E draw,
Felix Rodriguez beat Alessandro Maccioni of Bethany 9-7, then lost to Ruben Gogomoltz of Sterling 8-0 and Carlos Alcala of Baker 8-6.
Porter Anderson lost to Alcala 8-2, then lost to Joao Franchi of Tabor 9-8 (7-2), then finished up with a 8-2 win over Andres Morales Salazar of Doane 8-2.
In the F draw,
Adam Everett lost to Robin Baransi of Sterling 8-4, then defeated Anthony Davies of Bethany 8-5, then beat teammate
Zachary Daley 8-6. Daley lost to Christian Jensen of Doane 8-6, but picked up a walkover win over Kaleb Nelson of Baker.
In the G draw,
Dylan Dodds lost to Porter Lee of Baker 8-5, and lost to teammate
Levi Mies 8-6. Mies lost to Keton Leiker of Bethany 9-7, then beat Tony Gomez Ramirez of Tabor 8-0.
KWU then played in the KCAC Individual Flighted Tournament.
In the No. 1 singles flight,
Adam Hanson was the No. 10 seed. He lost to Jorge Batista of Bethel 8-5 then got a win over Rayane Sanhaji of Tabor 6-4.
In the No. 2 singles flight,
Felix Rodriguez was in as the No. 13 seed after being subbed in due to an injury after the draws were made. He lost to Gabriel Gomez of Friends 8-1, then lost to Victor Arias of Southwestern 6-2.
In the No. 3 singles flight,
Jack Hanson was the No. 10 seed and lost to Martin Priban of Bethany 8-2 then picked up a win over Hayden Carrillo of Avila 6-3.
At No. 4 singles
Gavin Chavez was the No. 8 seed and lost to Fernando Vargas of Sterling 8-0 then came back and won 6-0 against Ian Quintero of Southwestern.
At No. 5 singles
Paul Jittawait was the No. 5 seed opening with a win over Isaac Yourdon of Tabor 8-4 then lost to Manuel Espinal of Oklahoma Wesleyan 9-8 (7-5).
At No. 6 singles,
Benjamin Cechak was the No. 7 seed and won against Ben Drinkwater of Avila 8-6 then lost to Rubem Bogomoltz of Sterling 8-3.
In doubles in the No. 1 flight
Adam Hanson and Cechak were the No. 13 seed due a lineup substitution. They opened with a 9-8 (7-4) loss to Arthur Nardy and Texas Ranger Schmidt of McPherson, then picked up a 7-6 (7-5) win over Rayane Sanhaji and Nico Sa of Tabor.
In the No. 2 filght, Jittawait and Chavez were the No. 5 seed and beat Hayden Carrillo and Brendan Honn of Avila 8-2, then lost to Emilio Chavarria and Emiliano Arjona of Evangel 8-2.
In the No. 3 flight,
Jack Hanson and Rodriguez were the No. 8 seed and lost to Mateo Dargel and Leyton Ross of Saint Mary 8-3, then defeated Landon Moots and Ben Drinkwater of Avila 6-3.
Next up for the Coyotes will be KWU hosting the ITA West Central Regional Tournament on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Salina Tennis Alliance.
