EL DORADO, Kan. – Kansas Wesleyan's
Evan Pearce qualified for the NAIA National Championships in the Steeplechase on Friday as the Coyotes competed at the Grizzly Gold hosted by Butler Community College on Friday and Saturday.
Pearce ran a time of 9:19.22 hitting the NAIA B Standard and finished fifth overall in the race. His time was a new personal best by over 20 seconds and is one of the top event times in school history.
In the javelin,
Keegan Lott was second with a mark of 58.09m and
Riley Garcia was 15th with a mark of 31.70m.
In the hammer, Dylan Marks was fourth with a mark of 51.59m,
Austin Baird was 11th with a mark of 43.91m, and
Justin Barker was 19th with a mark of 41.36m.
In the 10000m,
Jake Cruz was fifth with a time of 32:54.17.
The 4x100m relay team of
Austin Hash,
Kean Dinkel, DeJaylon Beal and
Kristian Paronto finished seventh with a time of 42.50 seconds.
Xavier Solis was eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 13.33m and Mann Scott was 11th with a mark of 12.34m.
In the 1500m,
Braulio Torres was ninth in 4:01.77, Barka Bapeng Jr. was 33rd in 4:17.41 and
Logan Topp was 39th in 4:20.39.
Also in the Steeplechase,
Ethan Ochana finished 11th with a time of 9:54.92,
Luke Adams was 14th in 9:58.99,
Will Childers was 19th in 10:44.23 and
Efrain Santibanez was 20th in 11:12.30.
In the 100m,
Kean Dinkel finished 13th with a time of 10.66 seconds and
Austin Hash finished 26th with a time of 10.98 seconds.
In the 800m,
Jude Nelson finished 13th with a time of 1:55.89,
Triston Cottone finished 17th with a time of 1:56.49,
Nicolas Martinez was 43rd in 1:59.98,
Trace Sump was 59th in 2:02.621 seconds and
Brady Oliver was 60th in 2:02.625 seconds.
In the discus, Dylan Marks was 15th with a mark of 40.29m and
Austin Baird was 18th with a mark of 38.72m.
In the 400m hurdles,
Riley Garcia was 15th in 1:02.86 and DeJaylon Beal was 16th in 1:06.27.
Kristian Paronto was 16th in the long jump with a mark of 6.29m.
In the shot put,
Keegan Lott was 17th with a mark of 14.42 and
Jamar Armstrong was 35th with a mark of 10.13m.
In the 5000m,
Austin Schaeffer was 20th with a time of 15:40.12,
Mauricio Mendez was 42nd in 16:29.74, and
Cohen Greve was 44th in 16:38.45.
In the 200m,
Kristian Paronto finished 20th with a time of 21.93 seconds and
Austin Hash finished 21st with a time of 21.94 seconds.
Andrew Smith finished 37th in the 400m with a time of 53.39 seconds.
KWU hosts the Coyote Classic next Friday and Saturday at the Olson Family Track at JRI Hospitality Stadium at the Graves Family Sports Complex. The Mortgage Company Distance Carnival is Friday night starting at 6 p.m. with the Youth 800m run. Collegiate events start at 7 p.m. Saturday's events start at 10 a.m.
