WICHITA, Kan. – Kansas Wesleyan's
Evan Pearce has been selected as the KCAC Men's Track and Field Track Athlete of the Week. He was selected for his performances from April 6-12 by a vote of conference sports information directors. All KCAC Player of the Week honors are presented by
Athletic Solutions.
He hit the NAIA B Standard in a fifth place finish in the Steeplechase on Friday in the Grizzly Gold Invitational hosted by Butler CC.
Pearce's mark of 9:19.22 in the 3000m Steeplechase was significant on many fronts. This time is the No. 1 mark in the KCAC in this event so far this season, and ranks No. 4 in the NAIA. It is a new personal best for Pearce, ranks as the second-best time in the event in KWU history, and eclipses the NAIA "B" qualifying standard for the national championship meet. He was the top NAIA finisher in this event at the Butler meet.
KWU is back on the track this weekend, hosting the Coyote Classic on Friday and Saturday at Olson Family Track at JRI Hospitality Stadium at the Graves Family Sports Complex.
