LAWRENCE – Kansas Wesleyan Women's Bowling qualified eighth and reached bracket play in the Jayhawk Challenge hosted by Baker University on Saturday and Sunday at Royal Crest Lanes.
The Coyotes finished with a pin total of 6692 to qualify in eighth to make the single elimination bracket play. KWU faced top seeded Lindenwood and lost 2-1 to the NCAA Division I Lions.
Teams played five individual games and 16 baker games.
Autumn Thompson led the way for the Coyotes in the individual standings with a 22
nd place finish with 867 pins,
Kaylee Laha was 28
th with 845 pins,
Haylee Busch was 32
nd with 820,
Teigan Nielsen was 49
th with 721 pins in four games,
Kylee Busch was 80
th with 467 pins in three games,
Emma O'Donnell was 94
th with 308 pins in two games, and
Reagan Benson was 103
rd with 111 pins in one game.
KWU qualified for bracket play earning the eighth seed after the 16 baker game block where they faced Lindenwood.
Lindenwood earned the No. 1 seed with 7451 pins, Ottawa finished second with 7309, Morningside was third with 7216, Baker was fourth with 7047 and Culver-Stockton was fifth with 6934 to round out the top five teams.
The Coyotes are back in action this weekend, heading to the Hastings Bronco Open in Hastings, Nebraska.
