NEWTON, Kan. – Kansas Wesleyan Women's Golf hosted the 2025 Central Plains Invitational on Monday at Sand Creek Station and the Coyotes finished fourth out of seven teams at the event.
The tournament was originally scheduled for one round on Monday and one on Tuesday, but tournament officials decided to play the full tournament on Monday with the threat of inclement weather in the forecast for Tuesday.
The Coyotes posted rounds of 343 and 328 to finish with a 671. The Coyotes were three shots better than Columbia (Mo.) in the team standings, but trailed behind Baker who was third with a 653, Park who was second with a 648 and Barton County CC who easily won the tournament by 33 shots with a 615.
Chaney Littell paced the Coyote team finishers with a ninth place finish with a score of 160.
Kelsey Essex tied for 17th with a score of 166,
Ryann Warren was 22nd with a score of 172,
Savanna Nickum was 25th with a score of 175, and
Magen Dow was 30th with a score of 178.
KWU also had a pair of individual finishers as
Emily Stamper tied for 20th with a score of 171 and
Abby Day was 36th with a score of 188.
Chomchanok Laparojkit of Barton County CC was the individual champion with a 146, five shots better than Micaela Suhl of Park.
Next for the Coyotes is the Evangel Fall Invitational in Joplin, Missouri on October 6 and 7. KWU will wrap up the fall season with KCAC Match Play on October 20 and 21 at Mariah Hills in Dodge City.
