MARYVILLE, Mo. – Kansas Wesleyan Women's Indoor Track opened its 2024-25 season at the Mel Tjeerdsma Classic at Northwest Missouri State University on Saturday.
The Coyotes came away with some solid performances to start the season which included a couple event wins.
Hailey Nordus was phenomenal in her Coyote debut, winning the 800m with a time of 2:24.98.
Madisyn Ehrlich won the 1000m with a time of 3:00.24.
Kirstin Hackney was third in 3:03.63, and
Joni Schroeder was fifth in 3:08.22.
Kierra Jensen placed third in the 5000m with a time of 18:23.93,
Alayna Behrman was fifth in 19:09.34,
Josie Koppes was ninth in 19:19.95 and
Charlee Lind was 15th in 20:22.35.
The 4x400m relay team of
Lauryn Mikkelson,
Hailey Nordhus,
Kirstin Hackney and Makyla Shaw was eighth with a time of 4:19.71.
Lauryn Mikkelson was ninth in the 400m with a time of 63.06,
Ava Kenyon was 11th in 64.25, and
Mayce Russell was 14th in 66.74.
Julie Rottinghaus placed 11th in the long jump with a mark of 5.14m and
Markyla Shaw was 23rd with a mark of 4.73m.
Emma McAlister was 12th in the mile run with a time of 5:59.47, and
Allyson Taylor was 14th in 6:07.50.
Julie Rottinghaus was 12th in the triple jump with a mark of 9.58m.
Aunisty McNeal was 15th in the shot put with a mark of 10.73m, and
Elizabeth Stout was 22nd with a mark of 10.42m.
Micah Dickens was 16th in the 3000m with a time of 11:49.68 and
Makayla Little was 17th in 12:21.08.
Elizabeth Stout was 25th in the weight throw with a mark of 11.68m,
Aunisty McNeal was 31st with a mark of 11.43m, and Roselyn Torres was 43rd with a mark of 8.32m.
Julie Rottinghaus finished 30th in the 200m with a time of 27.391 seconds,
Markyla Shaw was 31st with a time of 27.400,
Lauryn Mikkelson was 37th in 27.76,
Ava Kenyon was 46th in 28.50, and
Mayce Russell was 48th in 28.79.
KWU will head to the Concordia Bulldog Early Bird next weekend in the final meet before the end of the fall semester. KWU picks things back up on January 11 at the Scott Nisely Memorial Classic in Crete, Neb.
