Women’s Golf finishes 28th at NAIA Championships

YPSILANTI, Mich. – Kansas Wesleyan Women's Golf finished its season on Wednesday with a 28th place finish at the NAIA Women's Golf National Championships at Eagle Crest.
 
The Coyotes would miss the cut which was at the Top 15 teams out of the 30 team field at the event.
 
Wesleyan posted a 354 in Tuesday's first round led by an 82 by Abby Donovan. Chaney Littell shot an 87, Savanna Nickum shot a 91, Ryann Warren shot a 94 and Emily Stamper shot a 102.
 
On Wednesday in the second round, the Coyotes improved by 33 shots from the first round with a team score of 321. Littell led the Coyote finishers with a 76, Donovan carded an 80, Ryan Warren had an 81, Nickum shot an 84 and Kelsey Essex entered the lineup shooting a 96.
 
For the tournament, Donovan led the Coyotes tying for 87th with a total score of 162. Littell tied for 92nd with a 163, and Nickum and Warren tied for 135th with a score of 175.
 
KWU finished with a team score of 675, two shots better than Lawrence Tech and 73 shots better than Saint Ambrose. KWU was only eight shots behind Columbia (Mo.) and William Penn who tied for 26th.
 
University of British Columbia will take a 12-shot lead into Thursday's third round with a score of 585. Marian (Ind.) is in second with a 597, Keiser is in third with a 600, SCAD Atlanta is fourth with a 613, and Milligan and William Carey are tied for fifth with a 614 to round out the Top 5 teams
 
British Columbia's Jessica Ng is the leader through the second round, sitting at 6-under par 138 for the tournament. Sharon Shan of SCAD Savannah (-2), Emma Weller of Marian (-1) and Butpapaporn Sukterm of Lindsey Wilson (Even) are the only four players at par or better for the tournament among the 156-player field that started on Tuesday.
 
Teams will finish the third round Thursday, and a National Champion will be crowned on Friday.
