The 1950 Basketball team is considered one of the best ever at Kansas Wesleyan. That season KWU went 12-0 in Kansas Conference play and 22-2 overall, marking the best single season win percentage in school history. The 22 wins was the second highest total in school history until 2000, when the Coyotes won 25 games. KWU has only one more games three times - 2007 (28), 2000 (25) and 1940 (23). KWU averaged a KCAC best 63 points per game and held its opponents to a KCAC best 46 point per game average. KWU defeated Fort Hays State twice in consecutive games in the NAIB playoffs to advance to the National Association of Intercollegiate Basketball (the precursor to the current NAIA) National Tournament in Kansas City, where they lost to eventual National Runner-Up East Central (Okla.) by two points in the first round of the National Tournament.
