Ron West was a force for the Coyotes in the 1975 and 1976 seasons carrying the football. He was named First Team All-KCAC and NAIA District 10 both seasons. In 1975, as a junior, West ran 184 times for 1106 yards with nine touchdowns, averaging just over six yards per carry, on the way to being named as an Honorable Mention NAIA All-America selection. In 1976, as a senior, he ran for 1362 yards on 208 carries, averaging 136.2 yards per game and 6.7 yards per carry, and led the KCAC in rushing and scoring, on the way to being named as a Second Team NAIA All-America selection. On November 6, 1976, West set a then-school record mark for single game rushing, with 314 yards against Colorado College. That record stood until 2012, and is one of only three 300-yard rushing games in school history.
