Chuck was a four-year letterman playing on the championship team of 1929. In basketball he earned All-KCAC first team honors as a senior and led the conference in scoring. When Chuck left college at the height of the depression, teaching jobs were few and far between! Since he had a college education, he was able to get a job driving a truck for Fairmont Creamery. When he later returned to his chosen profession of education, he was always quick to stress the value of an education.
