Alan was one of the great runners coached by Gene Bissell. His season total offense (1194) was third on the all-time list. Other marks included second career total offense (3199), third game rushing (261), second season rushing (114), and first career rushing (3199). Alan had six games over 100 yards, and his 25 career touchdowns ranked third in KWU history.  Alan was twice named NAIA honorable mention All-American as well as All-KCAC.
