Scott was a four year letterman in football and earned All-KCAC first team honors as an offensive guard during his junior and senior years. He was a captain of both the football and baseball teams. In 1980 Hoagie was selected as a preseason football All-American. He was named to the Salina Journal 1980’s Football Team of the Decade. Hoagie lettered for three years in baseball; but it was dropped his senior season, preventing a fourth letter. As a high school track coach at St. Francis, Kansas, Hoagie’s track teams were Kansas State Champions in 1991 and state runner-up in 1992. He is widely known and respected as a coach and special education teacher throughout Kansas and Colorado.
