David Toelle came to Kansas Wesleyan in the Fall of 1996 as a member of the KWU Cross Country and Track and Field teams. In the spring of 1998, Toelle began working with the athletic department doing statistics for basketball games.

During his time at KWU, Toelle has become one of the top sports information professionals in the region. He led part of the revolution of the profession within the conference and region. He became one of the first to provide live statistics at games at the NAIA level in 1999, giving fans the ability to follow along at home. He also helped bring KWU in the live video streaming world, also becoming one of the first to accomplish this at the NAIA level. He also helped KWU develop the Coyote Sports Network and its recent upgrades to an almost ESPN-like look to home video streams.

He’s also helped bring lost history back. He’s spent countless hours during the summer researching and finding lost scores, honorees, and schedules, building an accurate history of the athletic department that has been previously lost to time.

He single-handedly led the development of the athletics website, kwucoyotes.com, in 2009 and two subsequent redesigns of the site in 2015 and 2019. He also served as university webmaster for several years and led a complete redesign of the full university website.

Toelle served as KCAC statistician for seven years, and has done statistics for several KCAC conference events. He also provides statistical services for several local events, including KSHSAA Championships and summer baseball. He has been twice been named KCAC Sports Information Director of the Year in 2012 and 2020.
