Jerry Jones Kansas Wesleyan Coyote Athletic Hall of Fame
Donald was a letterman at Kansas Wesleyan University under the guidance of Hall of Fame coaches, Gene Bissell and Wes Jackson. For twenty-eight years Don’s coaching style and personality exemplified qualities that both of his coaches had instilled in him. His concerns have been more about building character, establishing work ethic, and developing potential. His Manhattan girls’ track teams have won five consecutive league championships and two state championships. While serving as assistant football coach, the Manhattan teams were state champions in 1974 and 1988. In 1989 Don was named Kansas 6A Track Coach of the Year.
