As a sophomore in 1970, Dave Oliver hit .400 for the Coyotes with 44 hits and hit 11 homeruns. He was named All-KCAC and All-District 10 at shortstop that season and was named as the Dean Evans Most Valuable Player and was tabbed as the best college shortstop in Kansas that season. As a junior in 1971, he was again named NAIA All-District 10 and All-KCAC at shortstop in 1971 as he batted .397 for Coach Fred Reed.
