Gene was a half-miler as well as a member of the mile relay for three years and a letterman of the track squad. He was also the president of the Student Council. Always a W-Clan man, Gene was a leader in Salina for the support of KWU athletics. Gene was a member of the W-Clan Hall of Fame.
