Coach Brian Berner was the first Kansas Wesleyan Soccer Head Coach when both the women's and men's programs began in 1996. He led the men to KCAC Championships in 1996, 1998, and 1999, winning the KCAC Tournament Title and making the Regional Championship finals in 1999. Coach Berner established a winning tradition by leading the Coyotes to three straight NSCAA National Titles in 1997, 1998, and 1999. Brian Berner earned the respect of his players by being a "player's coach" and facilitating an environment where his players could both be successful and have fun. He led the men to an 80-78-12 record in nine seasons that included a 56-21-6 mark during his first four seasons. His women's teams were 54-92-10 under his direction, but were 25-22-6 in his final three seasons.
