Earning four letters in basketball, Max was three times All-KCAC, receiving first team honors twice. Max’s career at KWU was unforgettable as he stands to be one of the most explosive scoring players of his time, scoring 34 points against Baker, 32-Bethel, 30-McPherson, and 29-Sterling. Max still ranks in the KWU Top Ten in season and career rebounds; and at the time of graduation, he was also ranked in scoring. Innevitably this career landed Max a selected athlete for the KWU 1950’s Team of the Decade. Max earned two letters for Coach Gene Bissell in football as well.
