Ed was captain of the 1947 track team and four times a track letterman. He coached six years at Stockton and Anthony High Schools, compiling a 103-33 record as basketball coach. Ed placed second twice in the KCAC track meet as a sprinter. Ed was elected student body president but was called to serve in World War II, missing his presidential term.
