Kansas Wesleyan won its first-ever KCAC Women's Cross Country Championship under the direction of first-year coach, the late Zach Kindler. Sophomore Nicole Heptig won the individual title as well with a time of 21:17, ten seconds ahead of second place. Mandy Martin earned All-KCAC honors by finishing tenth with a 22:26. KWU Soccer standouts Andrea Velez and Meredith Harns stepped up and ran the race that they needed to run with Velez running a 22:36 and Harns posted a 22:38. Both earned Honorable Mention All-KCAC honors. Freshman Emily Ptacek ran the perfect race, cutting nearly two minutes of her last meet's time. Elizabeth Harns, another soccer player, played a big role in helping the Coyotes to the title. Amber Canterbury, who also played basketball, might not realize the amount of help that she was able to contribute. She was able to fight off the fifth runner from Tabor, who got second in team points, which enabled KWU to win. Sarah Vanek also ran a good race, just four weeks removed from running a marathon. KWU had two All-KCAC runners, two Honorable Mention All-KCAC runners and Kindler was named the KCAC Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year.
