Lawrence was one of the most outstanding football linemen in KWU history. He was a starter all four years. Lawrence earned All-KCAC honors as a sophomore, junior, and senior and was named honorable mention All-KCAC his freshman season. He was named to the All-State team twice and was a KWU co-captain as a senior. Lawrence played for two of the nation’s most outstanding coaches in A.B. Mackie and Gene Johnson. Lawrence was among Coach Mackie’s last recruits and certainly among his best.
