Gordon Reimer took over the reins of the Kansas Wesleyan Volleyball and Women’s Basketball programs in 2004. He coached the volleyball team for three seasons from 2004 to 2006, before giving up the position to concentrate solely on the basketball program. He went 48-42 overall on the volleyball court leading the program to a pair of third place conference finishes. He then turned his focus to basketball, turning the program from a perennial cellar-dweller to conference champion. His first season, the Coyotes went 5-24, but the next year KWU won 14 games, equaling the combined win total from the previous four seasons. Finally in 2008-09, all the pieces fell in place. The Coyotes improved 15 games over the previous season posting a 27-6 overall record, and winning the program’s first KCAC Championship since 1988. The Coyotes won the conference again in 2011, setting a school record with 31 wins. Reimer’s teams twice reached the Second Round of the NAIA Women’s Basketball National Championships. He coached five NAIA All-Americans, and 31 All-KCAC players. He was named as the 2009 KCAC Coach of the Year and the 2009 Four-Year College Coach of the Year by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association. He finished his career with a 140-105 overall record and was the all-time wins leader in women’s basketball at the time of his departure. He is one of only two coaches to win over 100 games in his career for the Coyotes.
