Coach Randy St. Clair led the Coyotes to a 20-3 record in 1976. At the time it was only the third 20-win season in school history and the second best win percentage in a season in school history at that point, now third best. The team set a new record in consecutive games won with 20 after opening the season 0-2. They recorded seven 100-point games during the year en route to a 90.5 scoring average that led the KCAC. The team also led KCAC in field goal percentage (.515) and scoring margin (+15.0). Tim Teeter and Tracy Rietzke were named All-KCAC, Mark Brown and Gordon Roe were Honorable Mention All-KCAC and Coach St. Clair named KCAC Coach of the Year.  Rietzke and Teeter named All-District 10.
